This system primarily aims to automate irrigation and monitor essential environmental factors such as soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and sunlight intensity in real-time. At the core of this system is a microcontroller like Arduino UNO or NodeMCU (ESP8266/ESP32), which collects data from various sensors including the soil moisture sensor, DHT11/DHT22 for temperature and humidity, and LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) for measuring light intensity. The sensor data is processed and transmitted to a cloud platform like ThingSpeak, Blynk, or Firebase, allowing farmers to access real-time readings through a mobile app or web dashboard from anywhere. When the soil moisture level drops below a certain threshold, the system automatically activates a water pump through a relay module, ensuring timely and efficient irrigation. This process reduces water wastage and eliminates the need for manual monitoring, which is especially beneficial for remote or large-scale farms.
Additionally, the system can be enhanced with solar panels for energy efficiency and water level sensors to monitor tank levels. Notifications and alerts can be set up using platforms like IFTTT to inform users about system status or critical conditions via SMS or email. The entire setup not only ensures better crop health and yield but also saves resources such as water, electricity, and labor.
